SAVING MONEY ON BABY PRODUCTS
With babies comes many costs, and sometimes for first-time parents, you might feel like you need everything. You might feel that you can’t afford it. But, the truth is there are some great ways that you can save some cash on nursery products and beyond.
Here are our tops tips for saving money on baby products.
Budget
Before you start buying, make a strict budget, and then take a little bit off. Consider what it is that you need and the other stuff that you just want. Once you have a defined list of what you need for a baby, you can start pricing everything up.
Brands
Do you need branded items? Or would it be better to have things that work and have good reviews? Thankfully we live in an age where there are millions of online reviews from parenting bloggers and regular buyers alike. If you find a product that you like, then use Google to search for reviews on it. Brands are often more expensive simply because of the name.
Friends and Family
If you have friends and family around who want to buy something for the baby, give them a list of things to buy. Not only does this save money, but it means you won’t get anything you won’t use. You can also ask if they have any clothing from their children or things like cots and more.

Baby Clubs
Baby clubs often issue members with coupons and freebies. Many of the samples can be stored away and used when needed. Some baby clubs are better than others and offer much more for signing up.
Freebies
Many websites offer freebies that you can take advantage of. You can find nappies, washing powder, books and baby care products. Most of the time, your freebie will arrive within about six weeks, and sometimes some with a voucher too.
When you sign up to freebie websites, you will be asked for your email address – it can be beneficial to set up a new email address since you might get a lot of spam emails.
Facebook Marketplace
Facebook Marketplace can be a great place to pick up huge bags of children’s clothes for free or very cheap. Most of the time, parents don’t want to sort through the clothing; they prefer to give the age-group bag away in one go. Check what is local for you.
Multi-use
When you invest in furniture or a pushchair, try to choose suitable items for more than a few months. A travel system can usually be used up until children are about five years old. This usually includes a car seat, a travel cot etc. Some baby cots can be turned into a bed as the children grow too; these items save money in the long term.
Sell as you go
As your baby grows out of their clothing, toys or other things, sell them. Instead of donating them, make some cash, and use the money you make to buy the new age range or new (to you) toys. This means you can get what you need as the baby grows without having to find more cash.
The more planning you do, the better you will be able to save on baby products.
